05 · Admission Priority

How KVS Allots Seats — Priority Order

KVS follows a structured priority-based system for seat allotment. Children in higher-priority categories are considered first. Within the same priority, a lottery is conducted if applications exceed available seats.

P1
Transferable Central Govt. employees — including Armed Forces and Para-military personnel. Highest preference in all KVs.
P2
Non-transferable Central Govt. employees — those posted in a fixed location under central departments.
P3
Children of Ex-Servicemen — retired Armed Forces personnel whose children meet the age criteria.
P4
State Government employees — considered after all central government categories are filled.
P5
Private sector & self-employed parents — admitted only if seats remain vacant after higher-priority allotments.
06 · Documents Required

What to Keep Ready Before You Apply

Scan and organise all documents before starting the online form. Having them ready avoids last-minute delays, especially as the portal may experience traffic near the deadline.

Child’s Birth Certificate (Municipal / Registrar of Births)
Proof of Residence (Aadhaar, Voter ID, or Rent Agreement)
Parent’s Service / Employment Certificate (for priority claim)
Caste Certificate (SC / ST / OBC / EWS — if applicable)
Disability Certificate (if applying under Divyang category)
Passport-size photographs of the child
Aadhaar Card of child and parents (optional but recommended)

📁 All documents must be uploaded in the prescribed file format (JPEG/PDF) and within the size limits specified on the KVS portal. Keep originals ready for physical verification at the KV after list announcement.

07 · Provisional Lists

Three Admission Lists — What to Expect

KVS releases three rounds of provisional admission lists. If your child’s name appears in any list, you must act quickly to secure the seat:

1st List 09 Apr 2026
Highest-priority candidates shortlisted first
2nd List 16 Apr 2026
Remaining seats filled from next priority
3rd List 21 Apr 2026
Final round before additional drives (if any)

After each list, parents must visit the allotted Kendriya Vidyalaya within the stipulated timeframe to complete document verification and admission formalities. Missing this window may forfeit the seat.

09 · Tips for Parents

Smart Steps to a Smooth Application

01
Apply early — do not wait until 02 April. Server load increases near deadlines and can cause submission failures.
02
Scan documents in advance — have all certificates ready in JPEG/PDF format before you start the form.
03
Double-check the child’s date of birth and name spelling — errors in these fields can cause issues during document verification.
04
Choose schools by proximity — pick KVs close to home or your workplace so daily commute is manageable for a young child.
05
Save your application number and password — you will need these to check list status, download forms, and manage corrections.
06
Monitor the official KVS portal regularly — list releases, schedule changes, and any corrigendums are posted there first.
